Lake Camanche, CA — The Calaveras Count Sheriff´s Department says a 17-year-old Oakland resident drowned yesterday along the south shore of Lake Camanche.
Debra Parsons of the Sheriff´s Department says Jyasi Ramos was swimming with a group of people at about 2:00 in the afternoon when he swam out to retrieve a float tube about 20 yards from shore.
Witnesses say Ramos yelled for help before he went under the water. Searchers looked for Ramos for about 5 minutes before an Amador County Sheriff´s boat arrived and located Ramos under the water.
Parsons says medical personnel were summoned and resuscitation was attempted without success.
Ramos was reportedly pronounced dead at the scene.
