Sonora, CA — 46 year old Tracy Hoover of Las Vegas was killed in a single vehicle accident Thursday evening at 9:30 on Hwy 108 east of the Dardenelle Bridge.

CHP Officer Tom Wills reports that Hoover´s 2003 Ford Explorer was headed eastbound when for an unknown reason it drifted off the right side of the road. He overcorrected and the vehicle careened across the roadway hitting a tree.

According to the CHP report Hoover was not wearing a seatbelt. He was thrown forward hitting the steering wheel and the windshield. Wills add that if the driver had been wearing his seat belt it would have been a survivable accident.

Hoover becomes the 15th Tuolumne County traffic fatality this year equaling the total number of fatalities for all of 2006 in the county.
