Good news for TUD water customers. TUD and P.G. and E. officials say the damage to the main water flume from Lyon´s Reservoir is not as serious as initially thought. The flume is expected to be repaired by Friday, allaying fears that water conservation efforts would be required for several days. Currently, P.G.and E. is flying in repair materials and crews are working on the fix.
Until Friday, water conservation is still needed for all residences above Phoenix Lake. Tuesday night, a support structure for the flume was damaged by a large rock. McCollough says before word came that the damage wasn´t as extensive as first thought, utility officials feared there was only a seven day supply of water without any major interruption of service.
