Police in Madera County north of Fresno have arrested a 16 year old Fairmead boy on suspicion of starting a string of fires that burned 485 acres yesterday.

Some 50 firefighters worked for 5 hours to extinguish 8 separate blazes that threatened homes and livestock.

Deputies are seeking additional suspects.
