The California Highway Patrol says more than 2,000 people rally at the state Capitol to support U.S. troops and the Bush administration. State Senator Rico Oller says the rally “is about real Americans…who believe it is our duty to defend freedom.” The festively dressed crowd boos the Republican lawmaker´s mention of anti-war protesters swarming the San Francisco area 85 miles away. The rally begins with a “Support our Troops” SUV Rally circling the Capitol with flags waving and horns honking. Participants also sign “Support our Troops” fliers to be sent to the White House.
