Kern County sheriff´s detectives have arrested an ex-boyfriend in the September 26th murders of two sisters in their East Bakersfield apartment.
Richard Arvizu is suspected of fatally shooting 20-year-old Carissa Gause and bludgeoning her 18-year-old sister, Emily.
Bakersfield Police Commander Marty Williamson says Carissa Gause had worked for Arvizu´s escort service and had a dating relationship with him, but the relationship ended shortly before the murders.
Williamson says Arvizu became enraged when he found out Carissa was dating someone else. Williamson says detectives had been waiting to make the arrest until they had more forensic evidence, but in recent days Arvizu´s behavior began to concern them.
Williamson says Arvizu had contacted the crime lab, become confrontational with detectives, and also had contacted witnesses. Williamson confirms that one witness described seeing Arvizu run from the crime scene.
