A Calaveras County Sheriff deputy was injured in a foot pursuit after attempting to serve a felony warrant.
Deputies Blain Smith and Alan Serpa arrived at the West Point home of 29 year-old James Valdez to serve him with the warrant. Deputies say Valdez ran out the back door of the house. They chased Valdez about 500 yards before capturing and arresting him. Serpa injured his knee during the pursuit.
Valdez remains in custody and is held without bail because of a parole violation.
