The National Forest Service has lifted fire restrictions from High Hazard Areas of the Stanisalus National Forest. In effect since June 14, the restrictions included lower elevations ranging from 1,500 to 5,000 feet. Cooler weather and shorter days are cited as the reasons for the lifting of restrictions.
Last week, the Forest Service lifted fire restrictions imposed at elevations over 5,000 feet at the Park.
CDF and Forest Service officials stress that fire season still exists and that campfire permits are still required for all areas outside of designated campgrounds. Private land open burning is still suspended as well.
