As fire fighting efforts wrap up in the Creek Fire area, CDF official Mike Snar is reminding residents that
the fire danger remains extreme. Until there is at least a one or two inch rainfall, we´ll face dry, hot fire-prone conditions throughout the
Motherlode.
Fire crews are gradually being sent back to their home bases, but the local ability to respond quickly and strongly to any new fires will be
severely reduced for another couple of weeks as an extensive mop-up operation continues.
That goes for the Leonard Fire area in Calaveras County as
well. Warmer drier weather will move into the foothills over the weekend.
