Reservoir Levels Rise

Sponsored by:

Recent rain in the foothills and plentiful snow in the high country is helping to beef up the amount of water stored in local reservoirs.

The California Department of Water Resources reports that New Hogan Reservoir near the Calaveras River is now at 47% of its capacity. Reservoirs fed by the Tuolumne River have also risen. Donnell´s is at 60%, Beardsley is 63%, Tulloch is 98% and New Melones is % full. These figures may increase as snow melts. No numbers were available for Hetch-Hetchy Reservoir in Yosemite National Park. A series of strong storm systems that moved through California in late December and early January brought abundant amounts of precipitation, thickening the Sierra snow pack to levels well above average for this time of year.
