Casino Plan Draws Lawsuit
Opponents of a proposed casino near Sacramento are suing to block its development. The federal government announced earlier this month that it would place 58 acres in Placer County in trust for the United Auburn Indian Community.
But a citizens group and the cities of Rocklin and Roseville are trying to prevent the tribe´s bid to acquire the land where the 100 million-dollar casino would be built. They claim the U-S Interior Department violated federal law by failing to determine whether the casino would negatively affect the surrounding community.
Station Casinos intends to begin construction near Interstate 80 in unincorporated Placer County later this year.
