Good News For Low Income Families Who Lack Insurance

Health and Human Services Secretary Tommy Thompson will approve a State Children´s Health Insurance Program waiver that will extend coverage to the parents of children currently the Healthy Families Program. The program is a government funded health coverage plan for children in families that earn too much income to be eligible for Medi-Cal, but not enough to be able to afford private plans. It´s been established that the need for insurance for adults in low income families is great in Tuolumne County. The new program should be in place by mid-year.
