Covered California Grants Extension
Sacramento, CA — Californians that signed up for health insurance through the exchange have some additional time before the first check is due.
Covered California says the deadline to turn in the first payment has been pushed from January 6 to January 15. Covered California reports that the extension is to prevent customers from feeling rushed to make payments, and to give health care companies additional time to process the needed paperwork. Covered California notes that the payments must be received by January 15th, and not simply postmarked on that date. The payment must be made in order for the insurance to be activated.
The Associated Press reports that by late December around 400,000 Californians had signed up for health coverage through the state’s exchange.
