There are many symptoms of grief, both emotional and physical, which are completely normal. Emotional symptoms include shock, which can cause a feeling of numbness; denial, which can be very brief or last for years; anger, which the person grieving may not even notice but can cause them to be very short with people; guilt and depression. Physical symptoms of grief include a change in appetite, difficulty sleeping, restlessness or agitation, anxiety, panic attacks, nausea, dizziness, digestive upset, shortness of breath and vivid dreams or nightmares.
It is very important to talk to someone about all of your feelings of grief. People often feel they wear out their welcome with friends and family when they talk about their loss and feelings. But talking about your feelings as much as you need to will help you through the grieving process.
