There is a profound difference between simply practicing dentistry and truly building a healthier community. For Dr. Ronald J. Kehl, MACT Health’s new Director of Dentistry, the latter has been a lifelong calling.
Born and raised in Salt Lake City, Utah, Dr. Kehl’s journey into healthcare began with a deep fascination for biology and chemistry. That scientific curiosity naturally evolved into a passion for patient care, propelling him to the University of Oklahoma, where he graduated from dental school with honors in 1998. Driven by a desire to look at healthcare on a larger, more impactful scale, he subsequently earned a Master’s degree in Public Health.
Over the course of his impressive 28-year career, Dr. Kehl has proven himself to be much more than a clinical expert; he is a community trailblazer. His heart has consistently drawn him toward helping underserved, rural, Native American, and homeless populations. In 2001, he rolled up his sleeves to help build a first-of-its-kind community health dental clinic in northeastern Utah, establishing a vital resource that transformed access to care for three entire counties. Thirteen years later, he broke new ground again as the founding dental director for a pioneering homeless clinic in his hometown of Salt Lake City.
For the past six years, the great state of California has been the beneficiary of his dedication. During this time, he has worked tirelessly as a dental director to build and grow two additional community dental clinics. Now, he brings his wealth of expertise, forward-thinking leadership, and unwavering compassion to the MACT Health Board.
