Criminal Investigation Of Office Fire

Sponsored by:

Don Pedro, CA – The fire that gutted the Lake Don Pedro Community Services District (LDPCSD) office has turned into a felony investigation. The fire is being investigated as suspicious based on a report Deputy Fire Chief Jim Middleton gave Mariposa County Sheriff Doug Binnewies.

Binnewies says, “There is a continuing criminal investigation into the fire. No arrests have been made at this time.”

Bennewies agreed back in February that there was a back story but would not speculate further. The district was investigated by the Grand Jury for issues related to billing, record keeping, and arguing amongst board members. For more read “Further Investigation Of Office Fire

The office was located on Merced Falls Road in La Grange. At 2 am on February 27, a patrolling Mariposa County Sheriff’s Deputy reported the structure was on fire. The officer immediately checked, but did not find anyone in the area. The water treatment and several other structures were not damaged.

The LDPCSD website states, “The District has recently experienced an office fire. We appreciate your patience. We are in the process of restoring all items affected by the fire. Our temporary office is still located at 9751 Merced Falls Road, La Grange”

The LDPCSD is a Special District incorporated in 1980 to provide water to district residents in both Mariposa and Tuolumne Counties.
