Sonora Resident Takes White Room Challenge

Sponsored by:

Sonora resident Jeribai Tascoe will soon be featured on HGTV, taking the “White Room Challenge”.

Tascoe was Wednesday’s KVML “Newsmaker of the Day”.

HGTV stands for Home & Garden Television and is available on most cable and satellite systems.

As a young student at Twain Harte Elementary, Tascoe was encouraged to expand the caliber of his paper drawings by former Tuolumne County Supervisor Laurie Sylwester.

While attending Mother Lode Christian High School in Tuolumne City, Tascoe expanded his creativity using several computer and computer programs.

So how did HGTV find him?

“I simply submitted some of my work,” said Tascoe. “Two years ago my wife and I purchased a home in Sonora and I sent in photos of what we did with each room.”

Tascoe was flown to Los Angeles and put in a hotel with three other interior designing contestants, who also flew in from around the country.

The “White Room Challenge” works roughly like this: Each contestant is given a white 10′ by 10′ room with institutional chairs and a table. The contestants have a solid set of hours to let their creativity take over. There are three celebrity judges. The camera crews capture every minute of the contestant’s moves and discussion as to what it is that they are doing.

Due to contractual agreements, Tascoe can not reveal if he won or very much else specifically about the show. However, what he can say is that the episode with him will be shown on Friday, September 28th.

The “Newsmaker of the Day” is heard each weekday morning on AM 1450 KVML at 6:47, 7:47 and 8:47am.
