Accident Victim Identified

Sonora, CA — The Sonora resident who was killed in that early Thursday morning accident in the Bakersfield area has been identified by the C.H.P.
65 year old Bill Vartan was killed minutes before five o’clock when his northbound 2003 Honda Element for some unknown reason veered to the right across several traffic lanes, proceeded through a perimeter fence north of Olive Drive, up a canal bank and into Beardsley Canal.
The Kern County Sheriff’s Department Search and Rescue team along with the Kern County Fire Department assisted with the extrication of the vehicle from the canal.
Vartan was the only vehicle occupant. The C.H.P. investigation into the cause of this accident continues.
