Mid-May And Armed Forces Day Events
There are several events planned today, Thursday May 18th and for Friday, Saturday, and Sunday.
The Friends of Columbia State Historic Park are sponsoring the Diggins Tent Town 1852 recreation of a gold diggings encampment during the Gold Rush. The event spans four days and features over 150 volunteers and school tours are led today and Friday by reservation. Tomorrow evening pickup a packet to participate in Luc’s Run at Tuolumne Veterans Memorial Hall. This is the 10th annual Luc’s Run with the 10k (6.2 miles) and 2 mile races begin Saturday at 8:30 am with a kids’ run open to paid entrants ages 10 and under starting at 8 am. The event is combined with an auction with proceeds from the race and the auction going directly towards Scholarships.
Adjacent to the run in the West Side Memorial Park will be the LGBTQ+ Rural Resource Center who is hosting a clothing exchange. Bring clothing in good condition you no longer want to trade. The event is to support sustainability, gender affirmation, and celebrating community as detailed here.

Friday evening is the Peaceful Valley Farmers Market.
The first Sonora Farmers Market of 2023 is this Saturday morning. The Jamestown Farmers Market will open Thursday, May 25th from 4 pm to 8pm through September 28. The Tuolumne Open Air/Farmers Market opens June 7th.
This Saturday, May 20th at Woods Creek Rotary Park is a fundraising event to raise money for Aim At Melanoma. The Steps Against Melanoma walk is a walk for those who have passed away from melanoma cancer and to raise awareness.
11th Annual Rods To Rails Car Show will be held Saturday from 7 am to 3 pm in Downtown Jamestown. The event is dedicated to the memory of Mario Vanotti. Walk along Jamestown’s Historic Main Street and view the beautiful custom and classic cars, with donuts and coffee courtesy of the Promotion Club of Jamestown. There will be food available as well as shops, antiques, win tasting and more. Nearby at Railtown State Historic Park to celebrate Armed Forces Day, rides on the Hero Train are free for all Veterans, Active Duty and First Responders.
Saturday afternoon is the 6th Annual Westside Tribute Band Brew Fest at the Westside Pavilion in Tuolumne. Craft brews, seltzers and ciders from more than 40 of California’s top craft breweries will be available for tasting as detailed here.
The Angels Camp Firefighters Association is hosting a Pancake Breakfast both Saturday and Sunday morning at Utica Park. Kids are welcome to meet the firefighters from the City of Angels Camp, details are here.
This weekend is also the Jamestown Rodeo, a Co-Sanctioned event between the Champion Timed Event Rodeo Association and the Professional Senior Rodeo Association (PSRA) The Rodeo with all participants over 40 will be held at the Tuolumne County’s Sheriff’s Posse grounds this Friday, Saturday and Sunday.
La Grange Off-Highway Vehicle Park (OHV) is hosting its Stuckfest Summer Kickoff this weekend. The event features a 4×4 Obstacle Course Competition. Attendees to not prepay for tickets, all fees are paid when you enter the park and go to the Parks Department. Details are here.
