Pile Burning Underway Across All Stanislaus Districts
Sonora, CA – Smoke can be seen across the Stanislaus National Forest as pile burning is underway and continues into winter.
This week crews began working first in the higher elevations to complete the work before weather conditions change. Forest fire officials added, “Crews will work their way down to lower elevations as opportunities present themselves in an effort to reduce the growing number of log decks out on the forest. So far this week, crews have accomplished 758 acres of pile burning.”
Smoke may be visible near the area of the burn piles, and the public is asked not to report it as a wildfire. Areas where pile burns are planned include:
- Mi-Wuk & Summit Ranger Districts: Upper Highway 108/Clark Fork, Pinecrest, Paper Cabin Ridge, Mt. Provo, Niagara Creek, Mt. Knight, Hull Creek, Long Barn, Cedar Ridge, Beardsley Reservoir, Crandal Peak, & Cascade Creek
