Mariposa County, CA—Overnight, the containment jumped for the Colorado Fire burning near Midpines in Mariposa County, with CAL FIRE reporting a switch back to an evacuation order for one area of the blaze.
Fire crews have reached 52 percent containment, and the acreage remains 233 acres. CAL FIRE reports that firefighters continued working to strengthen containment lines overnight. They added, “Winds are still testing established firelines, but the hard work put in by firefighters has been successful in keeping the fire in its current footprint. Heat detection on the fire is showing good progress.”
The Octagon area, which had been reduced to an evacuation warning, has been upgraded to an order again. Here are the latest evacuations:

- One lane of Highway 140 has reopened. Traffic control points are established at the Yosemite Bug Hostel and Briceburg Road.
- Bull Creek Road remains closed, and Rancheria Creek Road is open to residents only.
