Angels Camp, CA — Knights from around the world traveled to Angels Camp this weekend for the fourth annual International Jousting Championships.
The scene was merry, steins were full, and crowds were delighted as riders took hard hits for their chance at the title.
Organizers say competitors traveled from throughout the United States, Canada, Norway, France and Holland.
Many knights were even thrown from their horses during the heat of battle.
The event was previously held at the fairgrounds in Sonora but outgrew the venue. This year the Calaveras County fairgrounds hosted the competition, which was accompanied by a Renaissance Faire.
Saturday afternoon the band Culann´s Hounds treated visitors to some classic and modern Irish music.
The event also featured an archery competition, village shops and renaissance era food.
