Mountain Ranch, CA — The Central Calaveras Fire and Rescue Protection District is seeking to establish a new tax that will help pay for an increase in the cost of doing business.

The district covers Glencoe, Rail Road Flat, Eagle Ridge Ranch/Airport, Mountain Ranch and Sheep Ranch.

An existing $40 tax expires at the end of June. The new special tax would be $65 per parcel. The increase will also help with keeping a third paid firefighter.

The district board will meet soon to pass a resolution finalizing the tax proposal, which will then go to the county for approval of a special election.
