Tuolumne County prosecutors could file charges against 46-year-old Michael Cook today in connection with the death of his girlfriend.

Cook was arrested in Metropolis, Illinois, near the Kentucky border. He was brought back to Tuolumne County and is being held in the county jail here without bail. Cook was arrested for a probation violation, and authorities say that´s why he´s being without bail.

Tuolumne County Sheriff’s Lt. John Steely says Cook was on probation for spousal abuse.

Cook lived with 54-year-old Mary Bisbing, who was found dead in her La Grange home August 25.

Cook is being investigated in Bisbing´s death, but authorities have yet to call him a suspect.
