The Highway patrol is investigating a fatal traffic accident this afternoon on Highway 108 at Landcaster Road east of Oakdale.

Reports indication a big rig truck and a car collided just after 12:30 this afternoon blocking both lanes of traffic. The corner was called out.

Traffic was backed up in both directions, later officers diverted west bound traffic onto Knights Ferry Road while the accident was cleared from the roadway. Both lanes of the highway were reopened to traffic around 3 p.m. Friday but traffic continued to be congested in the area for quite a while.

CHP is investigating the cause of the crash. No word on where the victim is from or the name.
