Calaveras County, CA — Two Thursday afternoon fires burned a total of 52 acres.
The first fire, reported at 12:43pm, was located on Morgan Rd. in Copperopolis. It burned 12 acres. C.D.F. offiicials described it as an escaped debris burn.
The second fire, also an escaped debris burn, was reported at 3:05pm. It was located at Hunt Rd. and Hogan Dam Rd. That fire burned 40 acres before being extinguished. Units from San Andreas, Baseline, Columbia, Altaville, Amador-El Dorado, Valley Springs, Murphys, Esperanza and Arnold responded to the second fire with mopup crews still on site Friday morning.
