Jamestown, CA — The California Highway Patrol continues to utilize money from the federal government in an effort to reduce injuries on the state´s roads.

Spokesman Tom Wills says extra officers have been on area highways and side roads as part of two federal programs designed to reduce violations that could result in serious accidents.

Wills says the county road enforcement and state border to border programs have been in effect since late spring.

Wills says that officers working as part of the county road program will provide extra enforcement on roads such as Parrotts Ferry, Tuolumne or Phoenix Lake while the border to border program covers state routes like 108 or 120.

Wills says among the things officers are looking for are speeding, unsafe passing, following too closely and seatbelt violations.
