Report of an assault on a female correctional officer at the Sierra Conservation Center. In information released Friday by the California Correctional Peace Officers Association, the officer asked an inmate to see his ID card… when the inmate knocked the officer down, jumped on her and started to hit her with his fists. The officer used her pepper spray to stop the attack and other officers at the prison near Jamestown then helped to subdue the inmate.

Statistically, an average of nine officers are assaulted in California prisons every day.
