Off-roaders, sports utility vehicles and mountain bikers are protesting proposed federal legislation that could ban motorized vehicles from public land. Protesters circled the state Capitol yesterday in a rally. U.S. Senator Barbara Boxer introduced the legislation in June. If it becomes law, it would also prohibit logging and construction on nearly 2.5 million acres of land. Don Amador, spokesman for the Blue Ribbon Foundation, says the group fears it would close their favorite trails and camping areas.
