Fresno saw its third officer-involved fatal shooting in as many weeks yesterday when a police officer killed a woman who was wielding an ax in the parking lot of an auto dealership.

Police say the woman, whose name was not released, was striking vehicles in a downtown Nissan dealership around 2 p.m. They say a responding officer tried to talk with the woman, but she advanced with the ax.

The officer shot the woman in her upper body and she died at the hospital soon after. The officer’s name wasn’t released.
