A new newspaper is being created to fill a need for local news in the mountain communities.

After the “Twain Harte Times” suddenly went out of business and the owner and publisher Mike Ashland dropped out of sight, Twain Harte area businessman Doug Kennedy decided to fill the need with a new, publication he´s calling “The Sierra Mountain Times.”

Kennedy says he did not buy the now defunct Twain Harte weekly paper and says there is no connection with the two. The new newspaper is a part of the Reverb Media Group of Twain Harte and will offer expanded coverage of the region´s mountain communities.
