Fourteen people lost their lives over the New Year´s holiday this year across the state. That´s according to the California Highway Patrol for the period from 6 p.m. New Years Eve to 6 a.m. yesterday morning.

Last year, five people were killed during the same time period. The CHP arrested 481 people statewide for drunk driving.
