A Danville congregation is sending sick kids to summer camp, buying computers for needy kids and busing the children of a terminally ill cancer patient to school.
A challenge from pastor Scott Farmer spawned the good deeds. In June, he handed out $10,000 to members of the Community Presbyterian Church asking that they use the money to enrich the lives of others.
Danville teenager Lauren Stienstra used her $100 to launch a school supply drive that equipped 56 kids with backpacks, calculators and dictionaries.
One woman spent her $100 to fix the car of a single mother so she could go to work. A mother-daughter team bought craft supplies and donated the thousand dollars they earned selling their handiwork to a nursery of infants awaiting foster homes.
