A paving contractor was run over by his paving machine on Pennsylvania Gulch Road in Murphys.

Calaveras County Sheriff’s investigators say 57 year-old Douglas Flat resident Daniel Stahn was thrown from the out-of-control machine, landing in its path and run over.

Murphy’s fire department, San Andreas ambulance and Air-Med helicopter personnel worked for about 20 minutes to get Stahn extricated from the machine. He was seriously injured in the mishap and taken to Doctor’s Medical Center in Modesto for treatment.
