Residents of the mountain community of Pollack Pines near Placerville are wondering why animal control officers didn´t act sooner to deal with a pit bull that attacked and seriously injured an 11-year-old boy over the weekend.

Neighbors say they filed seven complaints about the dog, but animal control officers say they never found it running loose.
