A three county group met yesterday to look for a new site for the Juvenile Justice Facility. It appears now
the place to put this facility will be near the city of Ione in Amador County. Concerns now are how to hook up sewer and water facilities.
Proposed
other sites for the 7 million dollar plus facility have been turned down. Until recently, the site was to be the old Jamestown mine area but that site had to be
eliminated because of environmental concerns. Another site, near Columbia Airport was also turned down because of proximity to Columbia Elementary School
and concerns of not enough lighting.
