Teenage Racing In Copperopolis Causes Accident

Copperopolis, CA – A couple teenagers racing their respective vehicles sent one of them to Doctors Hospital Saturday evening with multiple injuries.

18 year old Joseph Nunes and 16 year old Brittney Stone, both of Copperopolis, were driving at approximately 55mph eastbound on Beaver Rd. towards Cheyenne Rd. As they came to a rise, Nunes failed to negotiate the curve and traveled off the right edge of the roadway and onto the dirt shoulder. According to the Highway Patrol, the Nunes vehicle began to fishtail as it came back onto the roadway. At that point Nunes´ 1989 Honda Civic struck Stone´s 1988 Honda CRX. Nunes´s vehicle continued across the roadway and struck a tree on the north side. Stone´s vehicle struck a fire hydrant on the south side of the roadway.

Nunes was airflighted to Modesto where he was treated for a broken right foot, two broken arms and facial lacerations.
