County Applies For Trails Grant
San Andreas, CA — On behalf of the US Forest Service, Calaveras County has agreed to apply for a grant that will create new trails in the Stanislaus Forest.
The grant is being offered through the state Parks and Recreation Department.
The money would pay for 12.5 miles of non-motorized trials in the Interface portion of the forest. The Interface is a patch of land stretching between the towns of Hathaway Pines and White Pines.
In addition to the trails, a historic site evaluation and interpretation plan would be developed for the 1903 Raggio Mill site.
If the grant were approved, work would begin next summer.
