District Sued To Get Buses Rolling

Sponsored by:

Amador County´s prosecutor is suing the local school district to force it to fix its dangerous school buses. District Attorney Todd Riebe cited numerous safety warnings from the California Highway Patrol to support the lawsuit filed Thursday against Amador County Unified School District.

School officials pulled a fleet of more than 30 buses off the road last month because of failed safety inspections that date back five years.

More than 2,000 students have had to find other ways to get to school. Riebe says the school district can avoid a trial by taking a number of steps to improve its transportation system. If it fails to fix the buses, the district could face fines and criminal charges.
