Update: Excessive Heat Watch Issued For The Mother Lode
The National Weather Service has extended the Excessive Heat Watch for the Mother Lode and the Northern San Joaquin Valley, now ranging from Friday afternoon through Sunday evening.
The temperatures are forecast to warm over the next several days, bringing a prolonged period of triple digit heat late this week and possibly continuing next week.
From Friday through Sunday, the highs in both the Central Sierra Foothills and the Central Valley will range from 95 to 112 degrees. The overnight lows will range from the upper sixties to eighty degrees.
Heat related illnesses such as heat exhaustion and heat stroke can occur due to prolonged exposure to extreme heat and humidity. People most vulnerable include those who spend lots of time outdoors, those without air conditioning, young children, the elderly and those with chronic illness.
