Folsom Prison Blues
Widespread mismanagement and dangerous conditions for inmates as well as city residents are what the state´s inspector general has found at Folsom´s city-run prison.
The audit was compiled over a six-month period last year despite Folsom´s efforts in court to stop it. It was completed earlier this month. Folsom´s officials deny many of the findings in the audit, saying it is incomplete and unfair. The report states there is lax supervision of inmates, visitors and volunteers and easy access for inmates to tools and supplies that could be used as weapons. The report also shows that the main front door of the facility can´t be locked.
