Study Says Pesticides Killing Frogs

A new study says pesticides may be a cause in the decline of three frog species in addition to the threatened
California red-legged frog.
University researchers previously found pesticides were hurting the red-legged frog – which was featured in Mark Twain´s tale “The Celebrated Jumping Frog of Calaveras County.”
Now they´ve found that wind-blown farm chemicals may be a factor in the decline of populations of the mountain yellow-legged frog, the foothill yellow-legged frog and the Cascades frog.
The study follows a lawsuit accusing the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency of allowing certain pesticides to remain on the market even though they are known to kill or deform the red-legged frog. The E.P.A. denies the allegations.
