Video Testimony In Ukiah Murder Case

Sponsored by:

Videotapes played in a Ukiah court show a couple accused of killing a Willits woman admitting they waited outside her home for a chance to attack and rob her.

The tapes were played in court yesterday. They provided a chilling account by Johann Schmidt and Amy Andrews of the July 7th slaying of Christa Amo.

Mendocino County Superior Court Judge Cindee Mayfield ruled at the end of the preliminary hearing that there is enough evidence to hold Schmidt and Andrews for trial.

Schmidt and Andrews both are charged with murder, burglary and vehicle theft with a varity of special circumstances. They include lying in wait, torture and the use of hammer and knife.

Testimony indicated the 64 year old Amo was pepper-sprayed, then stabbed and struck 35 times.
