Muslim College Students Have Concerns
Muslims at college campuses throughout the state say they feel they´ve come under undue suspicion as the government looks for groups with financial ties to terrorist organizations.
There has been concern by the FBI that some student groups might be unwittingly funneling money to terrorists by raising cash for foundations that have recently had their assets frozen.
Leaders of Muslim Student Associations say they also begun receiving hate mail based on what they say are false reports that the students are supporting terrorism.
Samrana Ishan is vice president of a Muslim student group at UC Davis. She says many people in her organization feel there is a witch hunt starting against active Muslims.
Another Muslim student leader at U-CLA says people just don´t hear about the good work the organizations do like organizing free health clinics.
