Health Care Expansion
Sonora, CA — Thousands of new patients have prompted the expansion of an area clinic. Sonora Regional Medical Center’s (SRMC) Forest Road Health and Wellness Center is expanding services due to the Affordable Care Act. Hospital Officials say the law will increase the number of patients the clinic serves.
SRMC Spokesperson Gail Witzlsteiner says, “The change in the guidelines for income eligibility have been raised so much that it will allow services to provide for an additional 2,000 people. In the past they just would not have passed financially.”
The center will expand its specialty physician clinic with added orthopedic and gastroenterology services. It will also offer same-day appointments for walk-in Medi-Cal patients. In the future, the clinic plans to increase other specialty coverage.
Here are the changes effective March 1 according to SRMC:
- Patients with Medi-Cal can access same-day appointments by walking into the Forest Road Primary Care Clinic on 193 South Fairview Lane, Suite B, Sonora, or by calling 209-536-5100.
