Are there any medical conditions or illnesses that would prevent me from having surgery?
What if I get sick? Are there any medical conditions or illnesses that would prevent me from having surgery?
Being sick and having surgery puts a lot of stress on your body. If you come down with an acute illness such as a cold or flu, be sure to discuss this with your surgeon as soon as possible. Your surgeon will decide whether to proceed with your scheduled surgery or wait until you are well. If you have certain chronic conditions such as chronic obstructive pulmonary disease or heart problems, your surgeon will consult your primary care physician before performing surgery.
