Costs will vary depending on the type of coverage you choose and whether you qualify for tax credits or other assistance. Covered California offers four tiers of coverage – bronze, silver, gold and platinum – which can help you compare health plans and decide which is right for your situation. Bronze plans offer the lowest monthly premium but have higher co-pays and deductibles, making your costs greater when you do receive medical care. Bronze plans will pay roughly 60 percent of covered health expenses. Platinum plans have the highest monthly premium but cover more of the cost, about 90 percent, when you receive medical care.
