Everyone needs to keep their hands clean to prevent spreading colds and flu. Hands need to be washed well, rubbing soap on all surfaces. Always wash your hands after sneezing, coughing, blowing your nose or any other time your hands may be contaminated. It is also important to wash your hands before eating or preparing food. Hand sanitizers can be useful to kill some germs but if your hands are soiled, soap and water is best to slough away the germs that make you sick. It is recommended that everyone six months of age and older get the flu vaccine. It is the best way to prevent the flu. You can also support your immune system with good health habits. Good sleep, healthy balanced meals and exercise can strengthen your immune system and help you fight off illness.
