Festive Spring Weekend Events
Murphys Irish day is expected to attract many visitors. Murphys’ Main Street will be closed from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. on the day of the event. Tori James’ news story is here. Mystery still surrounds a “special attraction in the wings that is designed to rival the famous Rose Parade flyover.”
The annual event is presented by the Murphys Business Association as a tribute to the town’s Celtic heritage. It is always held on the third Saturday in March in honor of the patron saint of Ireland.
The Main St. festivities will start at 10 a.m. and continue until 5 p.m. the parade starts a 11a.m. Free parking will be available at Ironstone Vineyards on Six Mile Road. A free shuttle bus, provided by Ironstone and the Murphys Business Association, will run between Ironstone and the Arbors parking lot at Jones and Scott Streets. Shuttles will leave approximately every 20 minutes from 9:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. More parking details are here.
Parking information is even more important given that the Mother Lode Daffodil Show is also held the same day at Ironstone Vineyards. From 11am to 5pm you can view the flowers or come on Sunday from 10am to 3pm. The event is sponsored by the Northern California Daffodil Society and the Calaveras County Garden Club, full details here.
