The Copperopolis Homecoming

Sponsored by:

Copperopolis will be celebrating its 155th birthday this Saturday.

Copperopolis Homecoming Heritage Day spokesperson Linda Beck was Thursday’s KVML “Newsmaker of the Day”.

Beck said that in 1860, there was no Lake Tulloch in the area (it’s a man made reservoir) and the region rapidly grew into a very populated community, thanks to the excitement of the gold rush.

The 155th birthday celebration, also known as the ‘Copperopolis Homecoming Heritage Day ’ will take place in ‘Old Town Copper’ along O’Byrnes Ferry Road, beginning with a pancake breakfast served from 8 am – 10:30 am at the Armory.

A hometown parade will take place at 11 am.

Spectators will also find local vendors and plenty of food and drink.

The Copperopolis Community Center volunteers put on Heritage Day each year. The Copperopolis mailing address takes up several scare miles of area but Beck emphasizes that it is important to preserve the historical nature and buildings of the old town section, which is located near Highway 4 along O’Byrnes Ferry Road.

Beck has lived in the community since 1997 and wouldn’t want to live anywhere else.

The “Newsmaker of the Day” is heard each weekday morning on AM 1450 KVML at 6:47, 7:47 and 8:47 am.
