Update: New Details On Missing Arnold Man
Update 6:10 p.m.: A Sacramento-based CHP helicopter is assisting in the search for 79-year-old Don Peterson of Arnold. He was reported missing at around 12:30 p.m. by his family. Calaveras County Sheriff’s spokesperson Lt. Chris Hewitt reports Peterson was last seen near marker two, by the logging museum, walking his tan and white terrier named Danny. Hewitt noted, “There’s no suspicious circumstances as of yet that we know about. This is the first time he’s been on this trail, so he was unfamiliar with it. Unfortunately, he and his wife got separated, they took two separate trails. He went off on his own with the dog and they could not locate him.”
Lt. Hewitt indicated crews would remain searching through the night if necessary to get Peterson home safely and asked anyone with information to call 911 or the sheriff’s department at 209-754-6500. (Peterson’s description is listed below.)
